I sat down today for an exclusive interview with Pulitzer prize-winning author, Thomas Friedman.
The author of the new book, "Hot,Flat, and Crowded" told me just how bad the US economy is, and why it's up to us to lead the world out of this crisis.
At the same time, we hear there's a Major League Soccer deal between Merritt Paulson, owner of the Portland Timbers and Beavers and some members of the Portland City Council.
Paulson was a guest on last Saturday's "Straight Talk", where he pretty much promised to eliminate any risk to the city, and to cover cost overruns with private investor money.
The City Council votes Wednesday whether to put out the welcome mat for MLS. Paulson needs three of the five commissioners to vote in favor.
So, as the economy continues to shrink worldwide, things may be looking up for soccer fans in Portland.
Maybe it's a move that will give Portlanders optimism as they look around and see everything else contracting.
Stay tuned and join us for more of our conversation with Thomas Friedman
this Saturday at 7pm on "Straight Talk".
Friedman tells me what he thinks President Obama should do about the banking crisis.
Oregon Attorney General John Kroger will also join us.
If you have any questions for the Attorney General, leave your questions and comments here.
Let's keep talking.
