It's a train wreck.
In an editorial in the Oregonian May 29th, that's how Oregon state Senator Mark Haas described Oregon's economy, and how it's affecting education.
Some districts are cutting school days, others are cutting programs, and still others are laying off teachers and staff.
On "Straight Talk" this week, we talk about how local districts, especially Portland Public Schools plan to make ends meet with less money from the state.
My guests are Portland school board member, David Wynde and the Oregon PTA's Salem lobbyist, Otto Schell.
We look at the problem, but also discuss ways to try to avoid what Senator Haas predicts will be another train wreck around the bend, if we don't change how we fund education in Oregon.
Join me Saturday night for "Straight Talk" at a special time, right after game one of the Stanley Cup playoffs on NBC.
It's a big topic with lots of questions.
