Alaska Governor Sarah Palin talked to Matt Lauer on the "Today Show" Friday morning about her vision for a 26 billion dollar natural gas pipeline in her state.
Her appearance was timely since this week on "Straight Talk", we're discussing proposals for liquified natural gas terminals and their associated pipelines in Oregon.
My guests, Ed Finklea from Energy Action Northwest and Brett VandenHeuvel from Columbia Riverkeepers react to Governor Palin's proposal.
Finklea thinks transporting LNG from Alaska by ship to Oregon makes sense for the Northwest.
VandenHeuvel and his group are vehemently opposed to any LNG in Oregon.
He calls it bad for the environment, bad for landowners, bad for salmon, and bad for Oregon.
Finklea says the state needs to invest in its energy infrastructure and to diversify its energy sources.
Finklea and EANW think LNG would help do that, providing a thousand jobs that would help jumpstart Oregon's economy.
Watch the whole discussion on "Straight Talk" Saturday night at 6:30pm on KGW8, and again on Sunday on 8:30pm on Northwest Cable News.
We'll also post the show here on our website.
