Yay, Friday. Yay, yay, yay.
Okay. Let's give you the skinny on vitamin D and tanning beds and all that good jazz.
First, Dr. Hahn says in the winter months she doesn't have a problem with using a tanning bed that has UVB rays.. IF YOU USE IT FOR LIKE 4 MINUTES. And there lies the rub. If you go to a tanning salon, my guess is you're going to get a tan and that is most definitely not what Dr. Hahn is suggesting. And she's not a fan of the beds that offer UVA rays.. very damaging and of no benefit to you in terms of vitamin D production.
Now, she has her patients take between 1,000 and 2,000 units of vitamin d, but she stresses this is well above current recommendations and you shouldn't start popping supplements willy nilly until you talk to you own health care provider.
In terms of which type of vitamin D works best.. she likes D3. Here's more for you to check out.
There you go!! Have a great weekend! firstname.lastname@example.org
