Who needs a switcher, anyway?

We've had some interesting 7pm shows.. what, with the occasional catastrophic technical meltdown like Monday when the switcher died (hence the 5:30 commercial break going into our show).

But, you know, when it has happened things have somehow looked relatively smooth on the air. Not perfect, but smooth enough that you wouldn't necessarily notice. I credit our directors (Paul and Cary) and producer Aaron (http://twitter.com/thesquare) with finding work-arounds and keeping me in the loop so I know what's going on.

Oh yeah, have you checked this out? I know that there are folks who like watching on-line, too. At 7pm we stream the show and keep the mics and cameras 'hot' during the break. In other words, you get a peek at what happens if we end up a minute heavy after the a-block (the first segment of the show before commercials).. or you see the last minute scramble we go through to get that dratted u-shaped desk into place in time to get our Hot Box guest comfy. By the way, yes, yes, I know I sound ridiculous because you can't hear the two way conversation that producer Aaron is having with me.. it sounds like I'm just chatting away with myself. We hope to have a fix for that at some future point.

By the way, since Aaron and I are geeky, we created cyborg names for ourselves today:

You??
