You know the saying, right? A leopard never changes his (or her) spots. This is exactly what I think of when the name C.J. Giles comes to mind. He was intially deemed the "savior" to the OSU Beavers basketball program. And after watching this team fight tooth and nail tonight against 21st-ranked Arizona, I realized what an incredible impact he "could have" made.
But, Giles was nowhere on the floor....as the Wildcats pounded the paint, to negate the Beavers their first win in Tucson since the 1982-83 season. Where was Giles you ask? Suspended for one game by Jay John for blowing off a practice, and being late to another. So much for second chances, huh? Here's the refresher....Giles is at OSU because he failed to comply to the standards of his (then) head coach at Kansas. That, along with dragging a girlfriend down the stairs by her hair. He was kicked off the Jayhawks team....and is now at OSU. This is from an AP article just over a year ago.
The university quoted Giles as saying he was "young and immature'' at Kansas. Now I'm here and I'm going to grow up.''
Frustration beyond belief for the entire Beaver Nation. Let's hope this is as bad as it gets, otherwise the off-court antics of Giles will be stealing headlines every night on KGW.....and I, for one, don't like to report on 'leopards who don't change their spots'.
