This is a special week at the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. It's special for the Ducks and the family of former Duck Todd Doxey.
Doxey grew up in San Diego and was a star football player at Hoover High School. Todd went to Oregon...and was a Redshirt Freshman Defensive Back for the Ducks. This past summer he died in a drowning accident in Eugene.
The Ducks have paid tribute to their former teammate all season. A different player has worn Doxey's number 29 every game this year. This week Ducks Defensive Back Talmadge Jackson will wear the number.
"He was a legend around here," said Jackson. "I'm just real honored and real proud to wear his jersey come Tuesday. He was a great athlete on the field, but more importantly, off the field he was a great person and you can tell how many lives he affected off the field and how good of a person he was in the community to his friends and family. We think about him everyday and try to keep him in our prayers and thoughts everyday and try to keep his memory alive."
Jackson says they are going to dedicate the game to Doxey.
