I was asked tonight, if I had one question to ask during the Annual Super Bowl Media Day, what would it be? Honestly, I'd ask what would be the chances of you (could be any Steeler or Cardinal) getting me a VIP pass to some swanky Super Bowl "after hours party".
Yes, it's a question and also a request. Two birds with one stone.
It goes without saying... the Super Bowl is the "can't miss" sporting event of the year. I've never been to one (and as long as Al Davis is in charge in Oakland) may never even sniff a Lombardi Trophy. More than 600 (actual) media members were on hand in Tampa... and upwards of 3,000 "wannabe" members. Think of the most bizzare question, and ask it. The more "off beat" the question... the better the chance it has of making it on TV.
Steelers Pro-Bowler Troy Polamalu (who I had the pleasure of covering a couple times while he was at Douglas HS in Southern Oregon) was asked about his hair for a solid 10 minutes. Larry Fitzgerald (who also has long flowing locks) was asked if "Tony" Polamalu had better hair than he did. Then, both were asked if they use Pantene to shampoo their hair. It's bizzare-- and a good break from the monatany of what most ask. Tune in right here on KGW this Sunday as NBC airs the Super Bowl. It will no doubt be the "mane" attraction!!
