July 21, 2010: Plastic in the Middle of the Ocean

Continuing on the plastics theme, check out these photos of plastic from the middle of the ocean taken by Stiv Wilson. Stiv works for the 5 Gyres Project which documents and raises awareness of the plastic that is circulating in our oceans. The plastic gets caught-up and accumulates in giant gyres (currents) that circulate water around our planet. That plastic we use everyday winds up in some pretty far flung places!
