The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Toffee. This girl is too sensitive to be in a home with a lot of loud activity, but would make a great companion for a home without a lot of visitors. She is a sweet three year old Chihuahua who is looking for someone to love. Toffee may not be the type of canine who comes running up to you off the bat, but give her time to get to know you and you will see her true colors blossom. She is a tiny gal weighing just over 5 pounds and may do best in an adult home, or one with older children who would understand she would need to be treated carefully. It may take her a little time to adjust to her new environment, but with encouragement and patience she will fit right in. Come visit with her at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat. Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat.
Toffee’s adoption fee includes Spay, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 20 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside at Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. OHS dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Kittens are also available for adoption here and they all live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Visiting and adoption hours for both dogs and kittens are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday at the Westside Adoption Center.
