Thorton is a happy fellow that would like to spend lots of time with you! He is all beagle, and a typical beagle that follows his nose, is an escape artist but in the end wins you over by being your best friend. We recommend a breed experienced home that is cat free with older children. Thornton is ready to become your newest family member! Come visit him at the Oregon Humane Society!

The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Thorton. He is a sweet and loving Beagle that can't wait to find his new best friend in life. This little fellow is looking for a place to call his own and a companion to spend lots of time with. Thorton would enjoy going places with you and becoming familiar with his new surroundings with you by his side. He will need a breed experienced home that understands his intense need to sniff everything and his love of singing. His handsome face and endearing personality will capture your heart and make you ask yourself how you ever lived without him. Is Thorton the canine friend you have been searching for? He will need a cat free home and will need a home with older, mature children. Thornton tends to push out of doors, or dig out of yards, so he will need to be supervised when outside. A training consult is included prior to his adoption.
You can meet with him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are Sun-Wed 10-7; Thurs-Sat 10-9. Adoption hours are Sun-Wed 10-6:30; Thurs-Sat-10-8:30. His adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support. Availability is subject to prior adoption.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club located at 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know to know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. Oregon Humane Society dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Cats are also available for adoption here; all cats live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Adoption and viewing hours for both dogs and cats are 10-6 on Monday- Friday; and 10-4 on Saturday-Sunday.
