The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Tauntaun. He is a six month terrier mix that is looking for a human to accompany him on all his adventures, both on Hoth and in galaxies beyond! His luxurious coat is both adorable and functional by keeping him warm in frosty climates. Tauntaun's call can be heard for miles around, so if you are ever separated on your adventures, you'll be sure to find him. He will also use this special ability to let you know if he is bored or lonely. Tauntaun is not well suited to living in confined compartments like earth apartments. Due to his energy and lack of hands, it is best that he be around older children who can handle his enthusiasm for play. Tauntaun may be a little green broke, but with some time and practice, he'll be the best companion in the empire! He could do best if he took you to the Basic Training that is offered at the Oregon Humane Society which will help him fill his potential as the best canine companion. You can meet with him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat. Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat.
Tauntaun’s adoption fee includes spay, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. OHS dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. OHS kittens are also available for adoption here and they all live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Viewing and adoption hours are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday at the Westside Adoption Center.
