The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Shakes. He is a handsome little Chihuahua looking for his forever home. He is with us because of a move in the family that did not allow pets.  This little man is looking for a place and a companion to call his own. Shakes has lived with cats and dogs in his previous home and was friendly with both. He has been around children from ages 2 to 12, but because of his size would do best with older children who can respect his boundaries and be patient with him while he settles in to his new home. Shakes will follow you around the house and is very interested any time you are preparing food and thinks that if it is left unattended within his reach it is his! Shakes is house trained and the only time he will have accidents is when he has been left inside too long. In his past home he did have a fenced yard for play time. Both indoors and outdoors Shakes likes to play with rope toys, tennis balls, stuffed toys, squeaky toys and socks. He will carry them around, toss them, fetch them, and play “keep away”.  He is an active little fellow, but also likes to spend time snuggled with his people! You can meet him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10 to 7 on Sunday-Wednesday; and 10 to 9 on Thursday-Saturday. Adoption hours end one half hour prior to closing each day.

His adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Available is subject to prior adoption.
