The Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day is Stocking (120091). He is an adorable five month old Dachshund mix, but is still adjusting to the world around him. Stocking needs a home that understands how much work goes into raising a puppy, but also understands that due to his worried nature, he will require more energy to help him develop into a happy, well adjusted adult. Like all puppies, Stocking will need help with house-training, outlets for his youthful energy, and will need lots of socialization. We believe it will be necessary to take Stocking through a puppy training class, like the puppy manners program at the Oregon Humane Society, so he can start learning his basic manners, and meet lots of people and dogs. We also recommend crate-training your new puppy and have a crate rental program available also, please inquire at the front desk. If you truly are ready for a puppy then this great puppy is ready for you! He may look a bit worried and shy in his photo, but when it was taken Stocking had just arrived in Portland from the Merced Co. Animal Control through our Second Chance Program. You can meet with him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland (503-285-7722). Visiting hours are 10 am to 7 pm Sunday through Wednesday; and 10 am to 9 pm Thursday throught Saturday. Adoption hours end one half hour prior to closing each day.
Stocking's adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, one month pet insurance, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
