The Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day is Sam (121605). He is a one year old Dachshund mix and to quoute him: " Im a man on a mission; a mission to find my forever home. I love to do the things normal dogs love to do, but sometimes I get worried about new situations and new people. This means that my new person will be someone who has older, dog-savvy children and is willing to take things slowly with me, not forcing me into potentially overwhelming situations. Im not going to be Mr. Super Snuggles right off the bat, but if you can understand I have reason for being the way I am, and if you give me time and space, I will come out of my shell and be a great companion for you. I guess you could compare me to a piece of tarnished metal; I need a bit of time to be polished, but given that, Im sure to shine. I came to OHS through their Second Chance program from Baldwin Park LA Shelter." You can visit with Sam at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10 am to 7 pm Sunday - Wednesday; and 10 am to 9 pm Thursday - Saturday. Adoption hours end one half hour prior to closing each day.
San's adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, one month pet insurance, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
