Polly's having a hard time adjusting to being in a new home and will need lots of help with her next new one. She's a typical tortie that will do best with adults and older cat savvy children. She may be happiest as the only cat in the household as has kept to herself when lived with other cats. She's a special cat for a special household!

The Oregon Humane Society’s Cat of the Day is Polly. She is looking for a calm, mature home with minimal commotion in which to blossom. She is a sensitive soul who's looking for just the right person with whom to share all the rest of her days. She lives up to the reputation of "being a tortie" but carries in her a natural sweetness that begins to shine once she's been given plenty of time to acclimate and shown respect. Major life changes understandably make Polly feel uncomfortable and she will require ample time and gentle understanding to adjust to a new home. She has shared her space with other cats in the past but generally keeps to herself and seems intimidated by them at times. She's not a fan of being held but she purrs loudly when her sideburns are scratched. In spite of her independent nature, Polly is a generally happy, curious, and devoted companion for that special someone who wins over her heart. Polly will thrive in a quiet, mature home with no small children to fuss over her. Will you be that special someone in her life who knows how to treat her right? You can meet with her at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat.  Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat.

Polly’s adoption fee includes spay, microchip ID, collar and OHS I.D. tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.

Kittens are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. Here they all live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Dogs are available at this location also.  They spend their days in a large group area with other dogs. Viewing and adoption hours for kittens and dogs are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday.

Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 15 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.
