Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 20 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.

The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Pepper. He is a special little seven year old Shih Tzu who will steal your heart in no time. Pepper is blind and doesn't have the best hearing, but he has plenty of get up and go! He enjoys walks, rolling in the grass, meeting people and dogs of all sizes, and cuddling. He is a very sweet boy who is looking for his forever friend, companion, and guide. Both a medical and training consultation are included prior to Pepper's adoption. You can be the one to give this fellow a loving retirement home and allow him to do what he enjoys the most, spend time with his favorite people!  Come visit with Pepper at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat. Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat. Pepper has his own addoption video, watch it at:

Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside at Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. OHS dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Here they romp and play all day with the other dogs in doggy daycare so they might be a great fit with your canine family members! Kittens are also available at this location. They live in “colony” rooms with fellow felines. Visiting and adoption hours for dogs and cats are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday at the Westside Adoption Center.
