This little fellow weighs under 6.5 lbs so needs to be in an adult home or one with older dog savvy children. He came to us from California through our Second Chance Program and initially was very, very shy. He will do best in a quiet home and be given time to get used to one more new living situation. with time Mickey will likely bond to his new family members and want to be with them and happily take possession of a warm lap!

The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Mickey. He is an older long haired Chihuahua that is looking forward to finding a lifelong home with people who love and respect him for who he is. Right now he is feeling a bit uncertain in another temporary home, however this is improving day by day. But once he has the chance to settle down in his new forever home and begins to feel safe and secure in what becomes a permanent arrangement his real love will become to shine. At this time Mickey will love you like no other.  He will need a home with adults only and may never do well around small children as he weighs under seven pounds and younger children often can’t understand he isn’t a toy. We do not know how Mickey would react to inappropriate attention from young children who want to play with him. He may never be a social butterfly but continue to be more of an introvert, one who bonds with his family and is content and happy in that respect. A training consultation is included prior to his adoption. You can meet with Mickey at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10-7 on Sunday-Wednesday, and 10-9 on Thursday-Saturday. Adoptions time ends one half hour prior to closing each day. The Oregon Humane Society will be closed on Monday, Memorial Day.

Mickel's adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
