The Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day is Lilly (shelter #139885). She is a sleek, gorgeous one year old Catehoula Leopard Dog mix who's looking for fun, adventure, and a warm lap to curl up on at the end of the day! The Catehoula Leopard Dog is the Louisiana State Dog and is a herding dog and has a reputation for being loyal and loving to the people they know. They may take time to warm up to new owners, but with time may become very protective of them. She is a sweet girl but can be shy at times when in new situations. She will need training and socializing to build her confidence. She will need a home with no livestock or chickens and may do best in a home without cats, although she seems to do well around most dogs. Because of how sensitive she is sometimes a home with no children or older mature children may suit her best. We would highly recommend taking the Oregon Humane Society's Basic Manners Class with Lily to help ensure Lily becomes the best dog she can be for you and your family! You can meet with her at 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10 to 7 on Sunday-Wednesday; and 10 to 9 on Thursday-Saturday. Adoptions end one half hour prior to closing each day.
Lily's December Home for the Holidays adoption fee of $50 includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
