The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Joey. He is an adorable older fellow looking for a very special home in which to spend his golden years. He wants someone who will love and respect him and understand that he wants an adult only home and in his senior years he really isn’t excited about being around young children that aren’t dog savvy. If Joey was a person, he would be considered to be an introvert, one who would bound with his family and be content with being a home body and not being a social butterfly. Once he is feeling safe and secure in his new home Joey will love you like no other. Getting to this point might require some patience and understanding on your part. Then Joey is a complete lover and is happy being a lap dog and receiving your undivided attention. Joey is used to being the only dog for so long that he most likely would not adjust well to having a canine companion, however he has lived with a male cat. Joey likes to accompany his family on car rides and has learned sit, down and will come when called. He walks well on a loose leash for his morning and evening walks. He enjoys playing with his toys and especially enjoys plush ones as well as squeaky rubber toys.
