The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Homer. He is a handsome five year old Siberian Husky mix, but he is more than just good looks. Homer is full of life and ready to take on the world. He can be overexcited when it comes to meeting new people or when he is in new places so he will need someone who is willing to work on basic manners and continuing socialization. Sometimes excitement just gets the better of him and his zest for life cannot be contained. We recommend mature or dog savvy children for Homer so they can handle his enthusiasm and will be able to also work with him on training. If you lead an active life and can keep this man busy than maybe he could be the companion for you. Homer came to us from Jefferson County Animal Control through the Second Chance Program. His adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support. Availability is subject to prior adoption.
You can meet with Homer at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are Sun-Wed 10-7; Thurs-Sat 10-9. Adoption hours are Sun-Wed 10-6:30; Thurs-Sat-10-8:30.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club located at 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know to know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. Oregon Humane Society dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Cats are also available for adoption here; all cats live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Adoption and viewing hours for both dogs and cats are 10-6 on Monday- Friday; and 10-4 on Saturday-Sunday.
