The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Haley. She is a sweet girl who has been in a quiet home her whole life. Haley is a six and half year old Labrador mix and is not sure why there is so much noise and commotion here in the shelter. She is shy at first and needs some time to warm up to new people. The more you are with her, the more comfortable she will become. Haley wants to bond with her new people and may become protective over them once she settles in her new home. She is not a fan of being over-handled so she needs an adult only home. Haley may also like to be the only dog in the home as she does not like other dogs in her space. It may take Haley a little time to adjust to her new environment, but with encouragement and patience she will fit right in. A training consultation is included prior to Haley's adoption. Come visit with her at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat. Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat.
Haley’s adoption fee includes spay, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside at Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. OHS dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Kittens are also available for adoption here and they all live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Visiting and adoption hours for both dogs and kittens are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday at the Westside Adoption Center.
Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 20 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.
