The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Elijah (shelter number 120168). He is a eleven month old Hound mix who takes some time to show his personality but watch out when he does! He just spent May 12th at Doggie Dash with many, many other dogs and did quite well with all the commotion and other dogs. He also has been at our Westside Adoption Center at Lexi Doy at 6100 SW Macadam Ave, Portland 502-245-4363. Here he spends time each day with the other dogs there for Doggie Day Cane and gets walks twice a day with Oregon Humane Society Volunteers. You’ll be able to visit with him on a one-on-one basis and bring you own dog for a pet meet. Adoption Hours here are Monday through Friday 11 am to 5 pm and on weekends 10 am to 4:3o pm. His big heart and loving kisses are sure to win your heart. Elijah is still young and will need daily training, socialization and exercise. He needs someone who is looking to go on long walks and let him sniff to his heart's content! Elijah may never be completely trustworthy off leash. He will do best in a home with dog savvy children that can give him plenty of time to settle into his new home. He likes to hear the sound of his own voice, but plenty of exercise will help prevent him from "singing" all the time. If you've been searching for a hound for your home, don't pass by this sweet boy! If you are interested in meeting with him call 503-245-4363 for availability information.
The adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support!
