The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Cinnamon. She is a tiny eight month Chihuahua mix puppy with a huge heart that is ready to love you. She is a very petite, affectionate little girl that wants nothing more than to be right by your side, or better yet, in your lap! It will take her a little time to trust new people in new places, but give her a bit of time and she’ll be your true friend. Cinnamon has lived with other dogs in her previous home and may like to go home with another canine friend. She may need further help with her housetraining and also need some help boosting my confidence in new situations. If you like to relax on the couch with a good book or a favorite movie, she will be right there with you. Due to her small size she will be best in a home with adults or with older dog savvy children. You can meet her at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat. Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat.
Cinnamon’s adoption fee includes spay, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside at Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. OHS dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Kittens are also available for adoption here and they all live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Visiting and adoption hours for both dogs and kittens are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday at the Westside Adoption Center.
Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 15 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.
