The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Charlie. He's almost two years old and is a sweet, sensitive Shepherd/Greyhound mix that is looking for the perfect family to give him his forever home. Charlie needs a quiet, low-traffic home and one with only adults or much older dog savvy children. He also needs to be the only pet in his new home. Charlie would enjoy daily exercise and mental stimulation and loves to play fetch. Charlie has proven to be a bit of a talker, and may not be suitable for apartment living. A training consult is included prior to adoption so you and Charlie can get started on the right foot.
You can meet with Charlie at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are Sun-Wed 10-7; Thurs-Sat 10-9. Adoption hours are Sun-Wed 10-6:30; Thurs-Sat-10-8:30. His adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, 30 days free PetPlan health insurance and plenty of post adoption support. Availability is subject to prior adoption.
Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club located at 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know to know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. Oregon Humane Society dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. Cats are also available for adoption here; all cats live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Adoption and viewing hours for both dogs and cats are 10-6 on Monday- Friday; and 10-4 on Saturday-Sunday.
