The Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day is Charlie (121221). "I'm an one and half year old Chihuahua/Dachshund and Im looking for a warm lap to lie on. It takes me a little time to trust new people in new places, but give me a few minutes and Ill be your best friend. Thats probably how I will greet most new people, but Ive heard its a somewhat endearing trait. Youll have to let me know what you think about it. I really do enjoy getting out and about for daily bouts of exercise and play. A Basic Manners class, like those offered here at OHS, would help further boost my confidence in new situations. I need to find a home without cats and with children old enough to respect my shy nature, if any. I may also prefer to be the only dog, but let me meet your other canine roommate and we'll see. Ive come here with the hope of finding my forever home." You can meet with Charlie at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10am to 7 pm Sunday - Wednesday; and 10 am to 9 pm Thursday - Saturday. Adoption hours end one half hour prior to closing each day.
Charlie's adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, one month pet insurance, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
