Barley is the Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day. He is a Labrador mix and he is still a puppy at ten months old, with lots of energy but he could be the the perfect size for you. He needs a home that will commit to the consistent, positive training and lots of vigorous daily exercise (rain or shine) that he requires. Barley would do best living with another dog because he enjoys playing and interacting with them. Children in the family would need to be older dog savvy ones who would be able to assist in helping with training Barley. He has learned, sit, stay, down, shake, and off, but is sometimes too busy to pay attention. He also will take treats gently. He loves to play with toys, but he's still a puppy and can't always discriminate between a toy and your scarf or gloves. He would love going with you in the car or being your partner on a hike, run, or to the coast for some beachcombing. A training consultation is included prior to his adoption. You can meet with Barley at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland. Visiting hours are from 10 to 7 on Sunday –Wednesday; and from 10 to 9 on Thursday-Saturday. Adoption time ends one half hour prior to closing each day.
