Brutus needs a quiet home without children, once he's comfortable you'll have a lap dog. He seems to be housetrained and walks well on a leash!

The Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day is Brutus! He's not a tough Roman Gladiator type, but a shy, timid boy who is 2 1/2 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. He prefers to hide under the nearest blanket until he feels comfortable with you, but then he will be your constant lap warmer. His last home wasn't a good fit for his shy demeanor, so this time he must go into a quiet home with an abundance of patience and gentleness. A single person or couple who live a quiet life would be the best fit. No parties and no Saturday Market for this guy, ever! Brutus is a staff favorite because we have seen him blossom into a loving and sweet dog with those he trusts. He seems very well housetrained here. He enjoys walks and is good on a leash. Brutus needs a new guardian who will protect him from overwhelming situations and give him the time he needs to develop trust. Once in the home, Brutus will likely develop a strong attachment to his caregivers and want to be in their laps all the time, and we mean all the time. He'd prefer to be the only pet in the home. A Level 2 Training Consult will be provided at the time of adoption to help you understand Brutus and his needs in your home. You can meet with him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Visiting hours are 10 am to 7 pm Sunday-Wednesday; and 10 am to 9 pm Thursday-Saturday.
Brutus' adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption
