Baxter (110461) is the Oregon Humane Society's Dog of the Day. If you love Beagles and all the fun they bring, then you need to meet Baxter! He is a four and half year old happy, curious guy who just loves sniffing around all day. Baxter has lived in his last home all his life, and may take time to adjust and settle into his new environment. Baxter has lived with dogs and cats in his previous home and got along well with both; however he may react differently to unfamiliar dogs and cats in his new home. You will need to bring any resident canine friend to a pet meet with Baxter prior to adoption. He may need help with house training, and would benefit from obedience classes in his new home as well. This type of class is offered by the Oregon Humane Society and is a great opportunity for the two of you to begin the bonding process. Baxter was surrendered to the Oregon Humane Society because he was not doing well with children in the home, and for this reason Baxter should go to a home with children 15 and up. If you are a first time beagle parent you will find it may be a special experience to learn about hound dogs and beagles in particular. A training consultation is included in Baxter's adoption to assist you in helping him develop into a well mannered canine citizen. You can bring your family to meet him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland (503-285-7722) www.oregonhumane.org.
Baxter's adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, one month pet insurance, courtesy veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.
