Allen is a nice Australian Shepherd mix who is adjusting slowly to shelter life and can hardly wait to find his forever home and a family to love him. He will do best with older dog savvy children who will respect his needs. Allen is a very nice fellow that just needs someone to love him. Visit him at the Oregon Humane Society.

The Oregon Humane Society’s Dog of the Day is Allen Tank. He is a two year old sensitive Australian Shepherd mix who hasn't quite gotten used to his new environment. He can be nervous in new situations and prefers to take things slow so he can feel more comfortable in what is happening around him. Allen would do best with older children who can respect his boundaries and be patient with him while he settles in. With patience and lots of treats of course, he may become more comfortable in his forever home and has the potential to become a great addition to your family. Allen is a nice fellow who is currently receiving training in Nose Work at the Oregon Humane Society. He came to us from Pendleton Animal Welfare through our Second Chance Program.  His adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, 30 days free PetPlan health insurance and plenty of post adoption support! Availability is subject to prior adoption.

You can meet with Allen at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are 10-7 Sun-Wed and 10-9 Thurs-Sat. Adoption hours are 10-6:30 Sun-Wed and 10-8:30 Thurs-Sat.

Dogs are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club, 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. If you want know if your potential new best friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. OHS dogs spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. OHS kittens are also available for adoption here and they all live in "colony rooms" with their fellow felines. Visiting and adoption hours are 10-6 Monday-Friday; and 10-4 Saturday-Sunday at the Westside Adoption Center.

Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 15 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.
