The Oregon Humane Society’s Cat of the Day is Alaska. This lovely kitty is looking to find a forever home. He can be shy to begin with, but it doesn’t take long before you re rewarded with a charming companion and friend. He likes routine in his life and would benefit from having some consistency in place. His past owners say he is “talkative, playful and more like a dog!” Alaska is also a lap cat and very affectionate. He has lived with other cats before and may do well in a situation with them. If you would like to meet this special kitty, come by and say hello today! Meet with him at the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland 503-285-7722. Viewing hours are Sun-Wed 10-7; Thurs-Sat 10-9. Adoption hours are Sun-Wed 10-6:30; Thurs-Sat-10-8:30. His adoption fee includes neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS ID tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, 30 days free PetPlan health insurance and plenty of post adoption support. Availability is subject to prior adoption. Cats and kittens are also available at the Oregon Humane Society’s Westside Adoption Center located inside of Lexi Dog Boutique and Social Club located at 6100 SW Macadam Ave., Portland. They all live in “colony rooms” with their fellow felines. In honor of June being Adopt-A-Cat Month adopt any adult cat or kitten and take home a second cat or kitten FREE! Adopt a pair and be a hero to two new friends. Dogs are also available at this location and they spend their days in a large group area alongside other dogs in a doggie day care facility. If you want to know if your potential new bet friend gets along with other dogs, this is the place to visit. Adoption and viewing hours for both cats and dogs are 10-6 on Monday-Friday; and 10-4 on Saturday-Sunday. Every Tuesday the Oregon Humane Society offers an adoption special for people age 60 and up. A select group of 20 pets will be available for adoption to seniors at no charge every Tuesday. All other pets will have their adoption fees reduced by $50 when they are adopted by individuals over 60 on Tuesday.
