PORTLAND – This year’s Waterfront Blues Festival raised a record amount of money for the Oregon Food Bank.
Money collected at the gate totaled $622,670.73 and that was in addition to the 90,000 pounds of food donations.
This was the 23rd year for the biggest blues festival west of the Mississippi.
More than 125 artists performed on five stages Friday through Monday and around 100,000 fans attended.
Highlights this year included John Mayall on Friday night, and Booker T. on Saturday. Music ran all day.
Entry fee was a suggested donation of $10 and two cans of food per person. For every dollar donated, the Oregon Food Bank said it can move five pounds of food through its food distribution system.
