Pig out as Portland chefs face the 'Bacon Takedown'

What's being hailed as the "most important bacon party of all time" -- The Bacon Takedown comes to The Goodfoot in Portland Sunday.

It's where 20 local cooks will debut their "baconest" invention.

For $10 you get a tasting of the creations and the cooks compete for some high-end cookware along with the glory. Among the possibilities: ice cream, muffins and tacos.

Cooks started out with 15 lbs. each

Curator and connoisseur Matt Timms has been throwing similar takedowns at SXSW in Austin, Boston and L.A., with other takes on cookies, jerky and the daunting "Avacado Hatefest."
