PORTLAND -- The fifth and final Sunday Parkways event of the year will take place this weekend in Northeast Portland, the city’s bureau of transportation announced.
A loop of streets will be closed to motorized vehicles Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m., so neighbors and visitors can “walk, bicycle, run, roll and celebrate in some of Portland’s most popular parks and business districts,” according to PBOT’s Linda Ginenthal.
Portland Mayor Sam Adams will be on hand Sunday afternoon to show off the newly-rebuilt NE Cully Boulevard (pictured, above), which features new sidewalks, traffic signals and trees, as well as Portland’s first grade-separated bike lane.
The route connects Woodlawn, Alberta and Fernhill parks. Each of the parks will feature food, music, vendors and activities. Rigler Elementary and Durham Street will host marketplaces for the day.
