First thing this morning I chatted with the Today Show's Ann Curry via sattelite! You know she has Oregon roots, right? She graduated high school in Ashland, went to college at the U of O and even worked in Medford AND at KGW!!

She's headed to the Olympics. I'm looking forward to trying to catch up with her over there. Anything you want me to ask her from China? We're going to try and run something from her tomorrow (Thursday) in the morning show.. so look for it then if you're interested. We talked about security, the sports she is most looking forward to, how much work is going on behind the scenes to get ready.. that kind of thing.

Just before the interview, she was having her makeup touched up when I lamented to our director here that I would love a makeup artist. I think she heard me because she immediately asked the photographer to spin the camera off her while they finished with her touch ups. Meanwhile, I was frantically trying to tuck in rebellious chunks of my hair and blot the ubiquitous sheen on my forehead that shows up AWESOMELY on high-def.

It is what it is, people.

Let me leave you with some China/Olympic/Beijing blog suggestions (since you obviously like blogs)..

http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/148728/china_blogs_to_read_during_the_olympics.html

I like the first one mentioned because (at least in the entries I read) it addresses the culture and media buzz.. not just the top party spots. I also bookmarked the wine one, too.

I also liked the cleverly named SiliconHutong (the last one mentioned). Enjoy!!

Jeanette writes about that green gunk: When I saw all that bright green algae the first thing I thought of is how much energy that could become if what I've read is true...I think that this must some how not be the right kind of green gunk they have been using to make biofuel or someone else would have already thought of it.

Yup, I suspect you are correct!! I'm just glad they got it cleaned up-- the difference is pretty staggering in that before and after shot.
