I had a great time watching the Gold Medal game between the US and Spain. Thanks to NBC for broadcasting it live. I was able to watch it here at the station as soon as I got off the air.

It was a terrific basketball game and you might say it was as good as gold. I was happy for team USA and Blazers coach Nate McMillan, who is an assistant coach with team USA.
It was also great to see Rudy Fernandez play so well for Spain.

I've never covered the Olympics, but I have covered two Olympic teams. In fact, Michael Jordan played on both of them. The first was in 1984. I was working for a TV Station in Providence, Rhode Island. The American team played a number of exhibition games with a team of NBA stars. The first one was at the Providence Civic Center. It was the first time I interviewed Bobby Knight and the first time I interviewed Jordan. He was just out of College at North Carolina. It was a Blast.

Then in 1992, the Dream Team played the Tournament of the America's at the Coliseum.
I covered a number of those games and Team USA rolled through everybody.
That was the only true "Dream Team". It was a roster that featured, Bird, Jordan, Pippen, Magic, Clyde The Glide and Karl Malone...just to name a few. That was the best basketball team ever.

This year's team is a good one too...and they represented the United States very well.
Not only did they play great basketball, but they played with class and humility.
It was a joy to watch this team compete at the Olympics.

They were tested and they came through...with another Golden Moment for the United States.
