I feel like a kid in a candy store tonight. The Blazers just wrapped up their 10th consecutive win!!! Not bad when you get to cover a professional team for a living....and are a HUGE FAN at the same time :) No team in the entire NBA has won 10 straight games this season (not even Boston who is 21-3 at time of this posting). It's just an incredible feeling for this entire city. I'm proud of the postive picture it is painting on Portland's only pro team. Every single guy up and down that roster (coaching staff included) is as approachable as any athlete I've come across in my 11 years in this business. It's a breath of fresh air for a team that is just now recovering from the Steve Patterson/John Nash era. Credit goes to the players...but Nate McMillan and Kevin Pritchard have assembled a team that is easy to cheer for....works their butts off night in/night out....and are exuding a ton of confidence right now. They know in their heart-of-hearts that they can compete with anyone on any given night. Mike Barrett (who will join us on Sports Sunday this week) gave a stat in the game that said the Blazers have had the second toughest start to any NBA teams schedule. What will Santa bring for Portland on Christmas Day? Hopefully their 11th straight win---that would tie them for their 3rd longest winning streak in franchise history! GO BLAZERS!!!
