It will go down as a landmark victory... sort of. The Blazers 106-99 win on Monday night was Portland's first in Orlando since 2004. And they used a steady dose of Brandon Roy to twart anything the Magic had. Although, both Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard combined to score two-thirds of Orlando's points (64 of their 99). But enough about the Magic... because the Blazers won this won by attacking with their guards. Roy did alot of damage slashing to the hole... which helped to free up Steve Blake, Rudy Fernandez and Travis Outlaw to hit jumpers all day long. Blake and Outlaw had very solid games popping in 20 each, while Rudy hit 4 of 6 from beyond the arc to close with 16.
We all know of the Blazers struggles on the road... but, after coming up short in their first three road games (Lakers, Suns, and Jazz--- all very difficult venues for Portland)... they got a nice lift with their win in Orlando. Here's hoping they can do the same Wednesday in Miami. We'll find out soon if Greg Oden will return that night too. We'll keep you posted!
