You knew it was bound to happen. The Blazers were due to lose a close game down the stretch.
They beat the Spurs by one back in October when Michael Finley missed at the buzzer at the Rose Garden. They beat the Rockets on Brandon Roy's miracle three at the buzzer in the first week of November. November 24, the Kings missed in the final seconds at the Rose Garden and again the Blazers win by one. Then they beat the Raptors in Toronto by one when Steve Blake buried the three with less than ten seconds to go. Again, it was a one point victory. That makes four wins by just five points.
Tuesday night, it was Orlando with some late game Magic. Hedo Turkoglu banked home a three pointer with point 3 seconds to go. The Magic outscored the Blazers 9-0 over the final two minutes. 109-108 victory for Orlando.
"This time, they made the shots to win the game in the end," said Blazers Guard Brandon Roy. "They did a good job of trapping at the top of the key and we didn't get none down the stretch. You've got to give them credit, they made all the big shots tonight."
Yes they did. In fact, they hit 14 of 27 three pointers in the game to just 5 of 19 for the Blazers.
"Tough loss," says Roy. "We're going to be mad about this one...but tomorrow is a new day."
Thats right, the games keep coming in the NBA. The Blazers play at Utah on Thursday and then the Clippers at home on Friday at the Rose Garden.
