Ouch! Once again the Blazers get hit with a last second shot.
It seemed the Blazers could do no wrong the first month of the season. They beat the Spurs by one when San Antonio misses at the buzzer, they beat the Kings the same way and we'll never forget Brandon Roy's 30 footer at the Buzzer to beat the Rockets.
This week, a little of their own medicine. Wednesday, Hedo Turkoglu banked home a three to beat the Blazers with 3 tenths of a second to go. Friday night, Baron Davis buries the three at the end of regulation to force overtime. Clippers win in 2 OT's.
I feel bad for Steve Blake, because he is a good player and a classy guy...and he just happened to miss four free throws in the last 20 seconds of regulation to clinch the win. He had missed just two all season. That opened the door for Baron Davis to nail the 3 at the buzzer to force overtime. Clippers win in two overtimes 120-112. Davis had 27 and former blazer Zach Randolph 38 pts and 11 rebs.
Blake is professional and after the game, perhaps the toughest of the season, he stepped up and talked with reporters.
"I'm taking it personally, yeah of course," said Blake. "I feel the game was on my shoulders in the end and I let everybody down.
Blake did say you've got to take it in stride and move on and he's right. There are 57 games left and many more chances. It's been a great season and it's going to get better. The Blazers now get three days off before playing the Kings on Tuesday at the Rose Garden.
Could there be another last second shot? That's what makes the NBA a great game. Good to the last shot.
