Props to the radio voice of the Blazers (Brian Wheeler) for coining that phrase!
On last night's 11 O'Clock news....I asked the question "where would the Blazers be without Roy's output this season?" Here's a clue... not even close to being 7-games over .500.
Was there any better way for this night to go? Maybe aside from the snow flurries outside my office window... probably not. A national TV audience.... a sold out Rose Garden.... and Roy "manning up" and taking this young Blazers team on his shoulders and scoring the second most points in Trail Blazers history. When all said and done... Roy finished with a whopping 52 points--- the most ever by a Blazer at the Rose Garden. Damon Stoudamire...your franchise record of 54 is safe for at least one more night. Who knows what kind of encore Roy has planned when Denver gets here Monday night.
There's no question about it... it was a herculean effort by Roy--- who, in my eyes, is a lock for the All-Star game this February. And, it happens to be in Phoenix--the team that Roy and the Blazers beat for the first time since March of 2006!
