The Blazers normally bus to and from the Arena, hotel and airport....but a long bus ride is rare anymore. Today, they took the bus to Eugene to beat the Snowstorm and take a charter from Eugene to Denver.
The NBA wants teams to fly in a day before a game if the schedule permits. Blazers TV play-by-play man Mike Barrett told me by phone the bus ride was a positive experience for the team.
"It certainly caused a bit of an inconvenience for us, but the important thing is getting there safe," said Barrett. "So, I don't think anybody minded the extra drive and sometimes these situations you spend a little extra time on the bus together and we stopped in Keizer and got lunch and kind of spread out to some joints to get some food. I thought we made some people's day there as they saw the Trail Blazers walk in unexpectedly to a couple of restaraunts, so in that way it was kind of neat."
And they made to to Denver safe and sound.
Now, if they can top it off with a victory over the Nuggets.
