For whatever reason.... the Blazers couldn't get past those Denver Nuggets tonight, losing 97-89. In the absence of Carmelo Anthony, you would have thought that Portland would have stood a better chance. Well, they don't have to wait long.... same two play Tuesday night back in the Rose City. So, what went wrong? It's easy to point to Brandon Roy-- who finished 44 points shy of his output last Thursday---just 8 points on 3 of 11 shooting.
Roy came crashing back down to earth...after averaging about 35 points over his last 5 games. Portland had a difficult time defending Denver on the perimeter late...and inside with Nene, Kenyon Martin, and Chris Andersen.
I don't see this same outcome on Tuesday. The Blazers need to come out a little more inspired. Maybe this crummy weather has frustrated them too. I know I'm tired of it now.
