Blazers Coach Nate McMillan has been saying that he would like to see the Blazers get hot and put together a nice run of wins. Well, I think they are getting pretty close...and they might already be there.
The Blazers win over the Jazz made 4 wins in a row. They are now 9-3 in their last 12 games. One of their losses came in overtime at Charlotte and another against LeBron and the Cavs. ESPN now has the Blazers 6th in the Power Rankings ahead of San Antonio. Get this, the Blazers are doing much of it without starting guard Steve Blake. Blakey has missed 7 games this month and played about 10 minutes in Monday's win over the Clippers.
The great thing is, this Blazers team has so much room for growth. I talked with Bobcats coach Larry Brown the other night after the Blazers beat Charlotte and asked him what he thought of the Blazers. Brown is considered one of the great coaches in basketball history.
"I think they're as good a young team as we have in our sport," Brown told me. "Kevin Pritchard has done a wonderful job drafting people. They're not only good players, they have great character and they have a phenomenal coaching staff. I'm a big admirer of Nate McMillan. You've got a 2 guard (Brandon Roy) that's going to be as good as any in our league. You've got a power forward (LaMarcus Aldridge) that's going to be as good as any power forward. You've got one center (Joel Przybilla), that is very underrated and a young center (Greg Oden), who's going to be a star and a lot of good pieces to go with that. So I think they've done a marvelous job."
Sit back and enjoy Blazers Fans because this young team is Trail Blazin!
