This doesn't have a thing to do with the news really, but I've been laughing at myself all day so I thought I'd share.
Last night during the 5 o'clock news I was having a terrible time seeing the teleprompter and my scripts didn't look much better. Keep in mind my eyesight isn't the best. I wear one contact for distance and one bi-focal lens so I can still read a script.
When I work on the computer I actually wear reading glasses over my contacts. I'm doing that right now as a matter of fact. Anyway, last night everything looked fuzzy and doubled. I'm embarrassed to admit it took half the show for me to realize I did not have a brain tumor, I had simply put them in the wrong eyes.
And since we're on the subject of being embarrassed... I agreed to read to some classes at an area grade school. It's part of a program to get kids excited about reading. I thought instead of reading from a book I would put together a special newscast just for them. That way I could show them how I using reading and reading comprehension skills everyday.
Luckily Time magazine has a really good kid's website and so does National Geographic. I mixed in a few of the kid friendly headlines of the day and was pretty excited about the whole thing. And I must say they could not have been nicer at the school... when they told me I was a month early. It's in March.
I'm blaming it all on sleep deprivation. So instead of doing the housework or the grocery shopping I went home and took a nap. All better now. Please tell me you've had days like this!
And as always thank for watching.
