Portland steel mill laying off 130 workers

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Due to a massive drop in demand for steel, a local company is laying off 130 workers.
Kelly Brossart with Evraz Oregon Steel Spiral Pipe Mill said the company had to cut back on the workforce by 13 percent in Portland

Brossart said Steel demand was off by about 50 percent and called that unprecedented in the steel industry.
The layoffs were effective immediately, but Brossart said the company was doing the best they could to help effected workers deal with the impact.
