PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is cutting 20 jobs.

OMSI announced the layoffs Wednesday and ordered an immediate 10 percent reduction of expenses.

Nancy Stueber, the museum’s president, said the cuts were had to be made in order to provide quality educational experiences for visitors.

“Today’s reductions were necessary for OMSI to continue to move forward in a fiscally responsible manner,” Stueber said.

The organization is offering severance pay, along with outplacement support for eligible workers who were laid off.
