PORTLAND, Ore. -- Thousands of Boeing machinists across the Northwest and in Kansas voted on a new contract and a possible strike Wednesday.

There was a steady stream of machinists who cast their ballots in Gresham, OR. Union members packed Mount Hood Community College between shifts and cast their votes.
Many wore T-shirts that said "It's our time…this time." Some people cheered after they voted.
The media and cameras were not allowed inside the athletic field where people were voting. And union members were not allowed to talk to reporters on camera in Portland.
But KGW Newschannel 8 did speak to some union members off camera. Most said they supported a strike. One man even said he hoped for a three month strike.
Two votes were cast on Wednesday. First, union members had to accept or reject Boeing's contract offer.
Then, they had to vote whether or not to go on strike. If they voted to strike, workers planned to hit the picket lines at midnight on Thursday and at that point make a comment to the media.
