SALEM, Ore. -- Exports from Oregon companies are booming.
A new state report says that Oregon exports increased 23.7 percent in the first quarter of the year to $9.9 billion.
That's much faster than the U.S. export increase of 17.2 percent.
Big winners in export markets were agricultural products, waste and scrap materials, and computer and electronic products.
Canada remains the biggest importer of Oregon products, accounting for 15.3 percent, but Japan's imports increased by 54 percent and now account for 11 percent of Oregon exports.
China's imports rose nearly 30 percent and now account for 10 percent of Oregon's products sent outside the country.
