SALEM, Ore. -- Kohl's Department Stores is planning to put solar panels on four of its nine Oregon department stores.

Kohl's is a popular department store located in cities across the nation.

First in line is the Hillsboro store, where installation begins this month.

The Wisconsin-based retailer hasn't yet decided which other Oregon stores might get the solar panels.

Company officials say that on average, solar panels will provide about 25 percent of each store's energy.

Kohl's also has solar projects under way in California, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey and Wisconsin
